From April 16 to 18, 2026, a three-member delegation consisting of the Gambian Ambassador to China, the Minister-Counsellor, and the Ambassador’s Private Secretary visited Tuoba City for the second time. This return visit fully demonstrates Gambia’s high level of attention and importance attached to the development of Tuoba City.
On the morning of April 17, the two sides held formal talks and engaged in in-depth discussions and consultations on the development of the Tuoba City project and bilateral collaborative matters. After the meeting, both parties officially signed the Memorandum of Understanding and Letter of Support for Tuoba City, establishing collaboration directions in multiple fields, including trade and resource exchang, the establishment of a Gambian National Products Pavilion / Feast of All Nations Food Court, employment opportunities for Gambian students in Tuoba City, as well as cultural exchange.
During the visit, the delegation toured the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda (Sakyamuni Pagoda), the Datong Sculpture Museum, and the Datong Art Museum, where they experienced firsthand the profound historical and cultural heritage of Datong as well as its vibrant contemporary cultural development.
This return visit was pragmatic, efficient, and highly productive, further elevating the level of external collaboration between Gambia and Tuoba City.
