The 3rd Tuoba City Global Merchants Sales Event was successfully held from February 17 to 25, 2026, at the barbican within Qingyuan Gate in the Ancient City of Datong.
Under the theme“World Goods, One Datong: Showcase Your Best in the Golden Week Bazaar,”the event brought together high-quality merchants and distinctive products from more than 20 countries, offering residents and visitors a vibrant international shopping experience during the Chinese New Year holiday.
A total of 61 merchants from 22 countries across Asia, Africa, and Europe participated in the exhibition, including Senegal, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Togo, India, Burundi, Ghana, Ukraine, Uganda, Cameroon, Guinea, Vietnam, Zambia, Nigeria, Nepal, Mali, and Kenya.
The sales event showcased a diverse range of products, from Ukrainian specialty foods and Pakistani jade and handcrafted wooden furniture to Nepalese wood carvings, Indian oil paintings, and premium coffee from Burundi and Malaysia. Visitors were able to experience authentic global goods and cultures without traveling abroad.
Leveraging the existing infrastructure of the Tuoba City project, the event featured 52 national products pavilions and three temporary booths, with a well-organized layout and comprehensive facilities.
During the eight-day exhibition period, average daily footfall reached approximately 40,000 visitors, with total sales exceeding RMB 2 million. In addition, 37 merchants signed agreements to establish a long-term presence in Tuoba City’s national commodity pavilions, covering sectors such as food products, handicrafts, and cultural merchandise.
The sales event provided Datong residents and tourists with an international consumption experience during the Chinese New Year, effectively meeting diverse consumer demand. The strong influx of visitors to the Ancient City of Datong also stimulated surrounding industries, including catering, accommodation, and transportation, generating a positive economic spillover effect.
The event concluded on February 26, with participating merchants returning to their respective countries. However, development of Tuoba City continues to advance steadily.
Looking ahead to its official opening, Tuoba City will continue to uphold the principles of openness, cooperation, and mutual benefit. The project plans to further strengthen its global merchant exhibition brand, implement strict quality control standards for imported goods, and provide sustained, high-quality cooperation platforms and service support for the upcoming national products and international dining stalls.
